Requirements for Working at UpScale Security

At UpScale Security, we are committed to hiring dependable, professional individuals who take pride in protecting people, property, and communities. Because our officers represent both our company and our clients, we hold our team to high standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.


General Requirements

  • Must meet all Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) requirements applicable to the position
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must possess a valid state issued driver's license
  • Must be at least 18 years of age for unarmed security positions and meet applicable age requirements for armed positions
  • Must successfully complete any required background investigation
  • Must possess a valid government-issued identification
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned posts
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and good judgment
  • Must be able to follow company policies, post orders, and client-specific procedures
  • Must successfully complete required training and orientation
  • Must maintain all required licenses, registrations, certifications, and training applicable to the position


For Armed Security Positions

Additional requirements may apply, including:

  • Meeting all applicable DCJS armed security officer requirements
  • Possessing and maintaining the appropriate armed security registration
  • Successfully completing required firearms training and qualification
  • Meeting all applicable federal, state, and company requirements for armed personnel
  • Maintaining firearms proficiency as required
